Simba to upgrade squad for CAF Super Cup
SIMBA’S Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Imani Kajula has insisted on upgrading the squad so as to make it ideal for the coming CAF Super Cup tournament.
He made the remarks on Sunday in Dar es Salaam upon landing at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) from Morocco after playing Wydad Casablanca in CAF Champions League quarterfinals match.
The Msimbazi Street Reds suffered a 4-3 post-match penalty loss after a 1-1 aggregate draw in a two-legged fixture.
“We did not get the results we wanted but we still have time to do well because we have Super Cup coming up and in order to achieve success, we are set to upgrade the team.
“In the Super Cup, we are going to play against strong teams of Wydad Casablanca status as such, facing them has given us a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming right-team contest,” he said.
Moreover, Kajula highlighted that since the Super Cup will commence during the progression of the next season’s Premier League, it will be a good timing because their team will already be in competitive form.
He, however, hailed the team for battling hard against Wydad Casablanca saying they have left behind a legacy which will never be erased by football fans in Morocco.
“For us, we now turn our focus in the Premier League and Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) because we intend to stamp success in the both competitions,” he said.
On his part, the team’s skipper John Bocco appreciated the massive support they get from their fans saying it motivates them a lot to do well on the pitch.
In the ASFC, Simba will take on Azam in an epic semifinal clash at Nangwanda Sijaona Stadium in Mtwara where both teams will be looking to win the game.
