ZANZIBAR: TANZANIAN envoys Simba are optimistic of clearing the CAF Confederation Cup semis hurdle as they drill for their first leg match against the South African side, Stellenbosch, at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on April 20 this year.
Simba are playing in the semi-final stage after many attempts in their outings. Simba cleared their quarterfinal stage after seeing off Al Masry of Egypt with a 4-1 penalty shootout victory at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on April 9th this year.
The epic encounter has been moved to the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, where Simba are expected to arrive tomorrow morning ahead of the tense game.
Speaking to journalists in Zanzibar, Simba’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, expressed the club’s determination to reach the CAF Confederation Cup final for the very first time.
“It’s very possible for Simba to reach the final. We have the quality, and everything is in place. Fortunately, if we qualify for the final, we’ll play the first leg away and finish the tie at home. So what can stop us?” he said confidently.

He further emphasized that reaching the semifinals is a massive achievement that reflects the club’s growth on the continental stage.
“We are extremely happy to have reached this far. It’s a huge step forward because it boosts Simba’s stature. We’ve improved our CAF rankings—from seventh to fourth place in Africa. This is a positive sign for the club and our fans,” he added.
Addressing their semifinal opponents, Ahmed Ally acknowledged Stellenbosch FC’s quality and preparation, noting that their presence at this stage is no fluke.
“Our opponents are not weak; reaching the semifinals proves their readiness. We were prepared to face Zamalek, but Stellenbosch knocked them out right at home. That shows they didn’t get here by chance,” he stated.
Simba now stand on the verge of writing a new chapter in African football history, with their fans rallying behind them as they chase their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup title.
