Simba, Singida set for titanic Federation Cup clash

MANYARA: SIMBA SC are set to lock horns with Singida Black Stars in what promises to be a thrilling CRDB Federation Cup semi-final encounter at Kwaraa Stadium in Manyara today.

The two sides meet again just days after their Mainland Premier League clash at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam, where Simba secured a narrow 1-0 victory courtesy of a goal from Steven Mukwala.

Ahead of the highly anticipated match, both teams have expressed confidence and readiness for the knockout battle.

Speaking during a pre-match press briefing, Simba Assistant Coach Suleiman Matola emphasised that his team is well-prepared but anticipates a tough challenge.

“We are ready and fit, but we know this won’t be an easy game,” said Matola.

“It’s a knockout stage and we are determined to reach the final. “Our target this season was to win three titles the CAF Confederation Cup, the League Title and the Federation Cup. Unfortunately, we’re out of the continental race, but we still have two trophies to fight for.”

On the other side, Singida Black Stars Head Coach David Ouma reflected on their previous encounter with Simba, describing it as an intense match that was decided by a minor defensive error.

“It was a tightly contested match. Simba capitalised on a moment of lapse in our defence and that made the difference,” said Ouma.

“But we’ve learnt from it and the team is progressing well.” Singida’s wing-back Eliuta Mpepo also echoed the competitive spirit within the squad and underlined their ambition to secure a continental spot.

“Simba are a strong side with many experienced players, but we’re prepared for a real battle,” Mpepo said.

“Our main target is to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup and we’re still on course.”
