Simba seek to leapfrog Azam

SIMBA seek to dislodge Azam at the second place of Premier League table as they eye to clear Geita Gold hurdle at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza today.

Azam’s 2-2 draw with Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium on Friday evening was an advantage for the Msimbazi Street Reds knowing that a victory in today’s match qualifies them to the second place.

As it stands, Azam sit on second slot with 36 points from 16 matches while Simba are third on the log with 34 points from 15 encounters as such, a victory drives them to 37 points.

Already, Juma Mgunda’s side has opened up that their number one priority is to grab all nine points from the Lake Zone territory as they have three back to back fixtures they need to overcome before wearing smiling faces.

After Geita Gold, Simba expect to travel to Kagera to play Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium on December 21st before playing KMC at CCM Kirumba venue on the Boxing Day.

“The second round of the league has kicked off with three difficult away matches for us but we have a broad squad ready to fight for victories regardless the opponent we are facing.

“Geita Gold are a great team and are always hard to beat when playing them here so as Kagera Sugar and KMC…but we have planned that our intention is to claim nine points from these games though we respect our opponents,” said the club’s Media and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally.

He then assured Simba family they are going to utilise the ongoing mini-transfer window to recruit superior players to fit in the positions which need immediate boost so as to make the team stronger than before.

“The fact that we are leading in terms of scoring more goals than any other team on the log and that we have conceded less goals than any other side does not make us comfortable…we still feel the urgent desire to add fresh legs in the squad,” Ally said. He continued: “Simba fans should be patient as we try everything possible to strengthen the team and soon, they will begin seeing new faces joining the Reds family thereby quenching their desire. This is not the real Simba we are all used to.”

In another game today, Mbeya City take on Dodoma Jiji at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya, for yet another thrilling league match to climax the 16th round of the campaign.

Currently, Mbeya City have 20 points from 15-game outings while Dodoma Jiji cherish 15 points after 15 matches as such, a win is vital to either side to continue scaling up the league ladders as the season slowly reaches to the finishing line.
