Simba seek revenge vs Horoya today

SIMBA Head Coach Roberto Oliveira said they are going to use home ground advantage effectively to win their decisive match against Horoya at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

The two teams meet in group C Champions League qualifiers with both having equal chance to qualify for the  last 8 stage of the competition.

Simba have 6 points from four matches and sit on second place while Horoya who have collected 4 points from the similar number of matches, have reaped  4 points to settle at the third place.

In a pre-match briefing yesterday in the city, Oliveira reiterated that their main objective is to win at any cost to satisfy their home fans.

“Big clubs need to win every time and we have a big opportunity tomorrow (today), we respect our opponents, but we have to capitalize on playing in front of our fans.

“Together, with the good relationship between players and the technical bench, I am sure we are going to do well,” said the Brazilian trainer.

Adding, he said the match is not going to be easy because there is no simple game in the Champions League’s group stage, hence they have to work hard to achieve their desired goal.

“I have not forgotten the away my team performed in the second half when we played against Horoya, it was a thrilling performance and we lost three opportunities inside the box and that helped us to make a winning strategy for the game,” he said.

Queried on what they have done to sort out scoring problems encountered by his squad, he replied that in football, it is not possible to convert each opportunity which emerges as the encounter unfolds.

He further explained that after staying at the club for three months, he can now understand well his players and they are also adapting to his tactics.

On his part, Horoya coach Sekou Diego said they have had enough preparations ahead of the match and that they are ready to engage the Msimbazi Street Reds.

“We are aware that it is a tense duel because both teams are searching for maximum points in order to have a big advantage of stepping into the quarterfinals,” he said.

In their group C opening match in Guinea, Horoya won 1-0 victory to bag essential three points from the home soil and are now looking for their second triumph in the unfolding campaign.

As it stands in group C, Raja Casablanca lead the table with 12 points as they enjoy unbeaten run in the competition after succeeding in all their four matches.

On second place are Simba who are searching for their third consecutive victory with 6 points while on third slot are Horoya with 4 points and the bottom place is occupied by Vipers who have only have one point from four fixtures.
