Asha Djaffary and Opa Clement contributed a goal each to enable the Msimbazi ladies grab the important win which was enough to see them dancing their way into the semis hence have just one boundary to cross before reaching in the final.

Aside from netting, Opa was also picked as player of the match after displaying an outstanding performance to suffocate the Zambians who looked favourites in group A to sail through.

It was a second victory for the Queens after cherishing another essential 2-0 victory over Determine Girls and prior to that, they succumbed to a 1-0 loss from AS FAR in their inaugural match.

Head Coach Charles Lukula has already showered praise on his charges for making it this far as he believes that they can achieve more by making it to the finals and battle for the championship.

He also indicated that he wants to win the women’s champions league with the Msimbazi Queens hence recording himself in history books for becoming the first coach to steer the team to such remarkable levels.

His counterpart for Green Buffaloes Charles Haalubono said: “It is a bit difficult to explain I think the girls tried but were not good enough. We need to create more scoring opportunities. This was the problem we had.

“Our opponents got few chances and utilised them. We did our best, but it was not close to what we needed to win. In this game, you cannot stick to attack or defence formation. We moved as a block.

“When we got a ball, our passes were not all that good to connect from one player to the other to reach our opponents’ goal area. That’s where we missed it.” said Haalubono.

Simba Queens have already established a lifetime record for becoming the first women’s football club in the county to partake at the women’s champions league and this is a good news for the development of the beautiful game in the world.
