Simba players put on notice

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA’S newly appointed Head Coach, Abdelhak Benchikha has revealed that his first team choice will depend on the players’ performance and not their profiles.

He made the remarks during a press briefing in Dar es Salaam yesterday, where he unveiled his plans. Benchikha pointed out that prior to his arrival he had the chance to study the club, the players and the competitions that lay ahead.

He insisted on achieving success in both domestic and continental competitions; hence he has come up with a strategy that will help the squad to improve.

“I will engage with the players and there I will get to know them better. At training, I will see where we need to improve our squad. I am aware of some few issues regarding the team that prompted me to agree with the terms and the status quo of the team.

He further issued comments on the first-team selection, where he noted: “In the first-team selection, I will look at the players’ performance rather than their names and profiles.”

With a smile, he acknowledged how lucky he is to be in Tanzania, expressing his eagerness to work with the team’s management and electric Msimbazi-based club fans.

“I’m very happy to be here (Tanzania). Ever since I contacted the club’s leaders, I have been eager to come. I call on the fans’ support, for I believe through their support we will see success,” he said.

Speaking to the Press, Simba’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Imani Kajula, said Coach Benchikha signed a two-year contract, together with two assistant; assistant coach and fitness coach, to add value to the technical bench.

“Coach Benchikha has signed a two-year contract. We hope and wish him the best of luck, and assure him we will offer him our utmost support,” said Kajula.
