SIMBA’S Caretaker Coach Daniel Cadena said his charges have promised to give out a 100 per cent work rate as they face Namungo at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, today.
The Reds are searching to make a positive reaction after dropping maximum points in their previous league match following a 5-1 humiliating defeat from Young Africans in a traditional derby match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam last Sunday.
A win today will see them bagging 21 points in eight games thereby getting back to the track after s the race towards the finishing line of the season is steadily gathering momentum.
“It is a nervous moment for us but what we need is work, work and work…and forget everything,” said Cadena, who takes full charge of the match after the departure of Brazilian coach Roberto Oliveira.
He added: “We are prepared for the game because everyone knows its importance and players have told me that they will give 100 per cent performance.
“We want to win this game and after a win, step by step we will focus on the next match…we need to clear the negative mentality and I am happy because every player is working hard at training sessions.”
He further revealed that after analysing their opponents, he prepared a suitable training program for them (Namungo) with the players “we think are better for the match, not based on their names.”
Commenting on the progress of striker, Kibu Denis, who sustained an injury during the traditional derby clash, he said yesterday, that he began gym training as such and he is still recovering.
“He is a very important player in our team, not only him but all players are important in our team…and if his (Kibu) condition improves, he may be with us tomorrow (today),” he said.
On his part, Namungo coach Denis Kitambi highlighted that Simba are conceding goals in most of their matches and they will use it as an advantage for them.
“We are aware that they will come stronger to provide a positive reaction after succumbing to a 5-1 defeat in their last game.
“As such, in the first 10 to 15 minutes, they will try to press us hard to get an early goal and here is where the difficult part of the game will be,” Kitambi said.
He added that Al Ahly and Yanga have already given him a template on how to play against Simba as such, he cannot have a headache on how to face them as the template is readily available.
