DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC are set to take on KMC in what is expected to be an exciting and competitive showdown of the Mainland Premier League match at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam today.
Both sides enter the game on the heels of recent victories. Currently, Simba hold the third spot in the league log, while KMC sit in sixth place, making the match crucial for both sides as they aim to climb on the table.
Simba enter today’s match after their recent 1-0 away victory over Mashujaa FC at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma, while KMC also were boosted by their previous 1-0 win over Namungo at their home ground.
Historically, the two teams have faced each other 12 times in the Mainland Premier League campaigns since KMC’s promotion six seasons ago. Simba have won 10 of these encounters, with two draws, while KMC are still seeking their first victory against their opponents.
Speaking about today’s game, Simba Head Coach, Fadlu Davids, acknowledged the strength of their opponents.
“This game will be highly competitive, because we are up against a team with morale from their recent win. KMC are strong, especially on their home ground, so we cannot take this matchlightly,” said Davids.
He added that after their previous victory against Mashujaa, the team’s motivation is high. However, he disclosed that every game presents its own challenges, so they need to execute their game plan effectively, focusing on discipline and the tactics prepared.
“Performing well in all aspects will be crucial, particularly against a resilient team like KMC. We are ready to control the game and apply pressure on their defence,” he concluded.

On the other side, KMC’s Head Coach, Abdihamid Moalin, acknowledged Simba’s status as a formidable opponent.
“Simba are a big team, deserving respect due to their successful history and skilled roster. They have consistently demonstrated quality on the field and with their current form, we know they will be tough to beat,” Moalin stated.
He emphasised the need for caution, saying: “They have an experienced technical bench and a strong squad, so we must approach this match with care. We understand their strengths and we need to plan well to confront them.”
Moalin anticipates an exciting match, highlighting both teams’ commitment to high-quality football.
“It will be a good match because both teams strive to play at a high level and showcase their skills. We must minimise errors that could allow Simba to capitalise. My players need to be vigilant and avoid mistakes,” he explained.
As it stands, Simba is in third place with 22 points from nine matches, having lost only once and drawn once. KMC, in sixth place, has 14 points from 10 matches, with four losses and two draws.
