Simba, JKT face off in Women’s Community Shield final

DAR ES SALAAM: A THRILLING Women’s Community Shield final is expected tomorrow when JKT Queens meet Simba Queens at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

The two teams secured a final spot after winning their semi-final duels as Simba Queens thrashed Yanga Princess 5-4 on post match spot-kicks while JKT Queens punished Fountain Gate Princess 5-0 both games unfolding at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.

Simba Queens and JKT Queens will meet for the title decisive match at Azam Complex in the city tomorrow when the first-ever Women’s Community Shield champs will be crowned. Simba Queens Assistant Coach Mussa Mgosi says he is optimistic the team can win the title with more commitment and hard work.

“We had a chance to see the way JKT Queens played against Fountain Gate Princess and we are going to work on our shortcomings in order to do well and win the title.

“Also, we are set to improve on our strong areas to be 100 per cent in form when facing them on the day,” Mgosi said while giving credit to Yanga Princess insisting that their performance has greatly improved than they were previously.

On his part, Yanga Princess coach Charles Haalubono bemoaned lack of scoring accuracy among his players saying it is an area they need to work on ahead of their upcoming competitive duels.

“As you know, Simba Queens are a strong side so I watched their games and realised how good they are upfront and we had to strengthen our defence. “So, going forward, we need to improve on our striking force because we did not create enough scoring chances and did not cause much threat towards their goal,” he said.

Meanwhile, the muchawaited Women’s Premier League is set to kick-off from December 20th with four fixtures brightening the opening day at four venues. JKT Queens will begin their title defence away as they face Bunda Queens at Karume Stadium while Simba Queens host Ceasiaa Queens at TFF Centre in Kigamboni.

Also, on the same day, Alliance Girls take on Geita Gold Queens at Nyamagana Stadium whereas Fountain Gate Princess host Amani Queens at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma. On December 21st, one fixture unfolds at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma as Baobab Queens welcome Yanga Princess.
