Simba jerseys bearing names of President Samia, other leaders generate 31m/-

Dar es Salaam SIMBA have generated 31m/- from the auction of six jerseys that were unveiled at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and the bag.

The six jerseys bear names of different high-profile persons in the country like President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Vice President Phillip Mpango and Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi.

The remaining three jerseys have been branded with names of Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Speaker of the National Assembly Tulia Ackson and Simba’s investor Mohamed Dewji (MO).

However, the highest auctioned jersey on the day was that of President Samia which has been bought by CRDB for 10m/-.

That of Zanzibar President has gone for 5m/-, Prime Minister 4m/-, Vice President 3m/-, Speaker of Parliament 2.5m/- and that of MO has been auctioned for 4m/-.

On the other hand, the bag that carried the jerseys to the roof of Mount Kilimanjaro has gone for 2.5m/-.

According to Simba’s Chief Executive Officer Iman Kajula, the proceeds will be allocated towards construction of maternity wards at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam and Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Zanzibar.
