SIMBA said they are upbeat to see off Ihefu in their Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) quarter-final match at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam today.
According to Simba website, the team has intensified training to prepare for the ASFC quarter final at Mo Simba Arena in the city.
“Our team has continued with the training to prepare for the game at our Mo Arena ground.
“The training is conducted under the Head Coach Roberto Oliveira and his technical bench assistants.
“The only player who has missed training is defender Shomari Kapombe, who has been given a week’s rest after picking an injury during the CAF Champions League game against Raja Casablanca.”
The players, Augustine Okrah, Ismael Sawadogo and Peter Banda who were also injured have all returned and participated in the training.
The squad will practice for the last time at Uhuru Stadium before a tomorrow game.
To his side the team’s Coach, Zuberi Katwila said yesterday that they are upbeat to win the game against Simba no matter how tough the game might be.
“We are determined to reach the semifinals and to achieve that we have to eliminate our next opponent, Simba,” he warned.
Katwila said morale among his charges is high as they are well-drilled for the Dar es Salaam mission.
“We have a formidable squad capable of defeating any team at the moment and everyone knows it. We are serious about this and we won’t let down our fans in Mbeya,” he insisted.
Ihefu, one of this season’s surprise packages, qualified for ASFC quarterfinals for the first time this season, and winning their game against Simba will add a dimension to their brilliance.
After meeting Simba in Dar es Salam, Ihefu will host Simba in the Premier League match at Highland Estate Complex, Mbarali on April 10th this year.
Ihefu stunned their opponents in the second round of the league by making a fast climb from the bottom place to the current 6th position with 33 points.
In their recent five games, Ihefu have generated 13 points after winning four games and drawing once.
They beat Tanzania Prisons 2-1, Mbeya City 2-0, Dodoma Jiji 2-1, and Azam FC 1-0 before drawing 1-1 with Singida Big Stars.
