Simba fans flock stadium for match with Al Ahly
DAR ES SALAAM: Hundreds of Simba fans and football fraternity continued to arrive at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to witness the inaugural ceremony and match of the 2023 African Football League (AFL).
The game later on Friday will witness Simba hosting Al Ahly of Egypt in the first leg clash of the eight team tournaments.
After today’s encounter, the duo will meet for the reverse leg match in Cairo, Egypt next week on Tuesday.
At the stadium that accommodates roughly 60,000 spectators, by noon all the tickets had been sold out with fans trooping in as early as 10am, when the gates were opened.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at stadium with heavy Police and other security personnel presence to see into it that no chaos and hooliganism cases erupt.
Equally, FIFA and CAF security officers are on the ground to provide extra security bearing in mind that such scenes could be exploited negatively by some fans supporting their teams.
