SIMBA can claim the three-team’s mini- international tournament if they defeat Al Hilal as the two teams play in the event’s final at Al Hilal Stadium in Khartoum, Sudan today.
Both teams go into the match after they beat Asante Kotoko of Ghana, who lost 4-2 in both of their matches to Al Hilal and Simba and speaks volume of how tough the game will be.
The Msimbazi Street Reds are using the games to shape up their team before the resumption of the premier league and CAF Champions League matches where they have set semifinals as their top target.
After Wednesday’s game, Zoran Manojlovic’s men will have another signal testing duel against AS Arta Solar of Djibouti at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, their final friendly match before engaging in serious business.
On target when they defeated Asante Kotoko were Clatous Chama who netted a brace while Augustine Okrah and Pape Sakho contributed one goal apiece to enable their side walk away with the sound victory whereas Steven Mukwala and Stephen Amankono scored for the Ghanaian side.
However, speaking recently, Assistant Coach Selemani Matola said they expect to generate positives from the two international friendly games saying they are vital to help them stamp success in both domestic and international matches.
Adding, he said most of the players who are in Sudan are the ones who did not play in the first two league matches as such; a privilege for them to showcase their skills so that the coach can know their abilities.
Meanwhile, Simba’s interest to sign Vipers striker Cesar Manzoki, who was heavily linked to join the Msimbazi street giants, has faded away as the player is reported to have sealed a deal with Dalian Pro FC of China.
However, the Msimbazi Street Reds still lead the Premier League table with six points from two games and have netted five goals without conceding.
Up next, Simba host KMC at Benjamin Mkapa arena in their third round game of the campaign on September 7th.
