Simba confirm they are ready for the Derby

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA football giants Simba have finally broken their silence, confirming they will take to the pitch in today’s derby against traditional rivals Young Africans, putting an end to growing speculation over their involvement.
The confirmation came through a midday social media post from the club, bearing a brief but impactful message: “We will be there”, signaling their readiness to take part in the decisive fixture.
The derby, scheduled to kick off at 5:00 PM at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, is set to determine the winner of the 2024/2025 NBC Premier League season.
Young Africans lead the table with 79 points, closely followed by Simba with 78 points making today’s clash a virtual title final.

Uncertainty surrounding Simba’s participation arose after the club issued an earlier statement insisting they would only play the match if it was held on its initially scheduled date, June 15.
The situation worsened when Simba declared on their platforms that their match against Kagera Sugar was their final game of the season.
Tensions further escalated yesterday when Simba failed to attend the official pre-match press conference, leaving rivals Yanga to face the media alone.
Despite the drama, today’s match is set to be one of the most thrilling conclusions to a league season in recent years.
With only one point separating the two teams, both sides will be fighting not only for bragging rights but for the coveted league title.
Fans across the country are expected to tune in or flock to the stadium for what promises to be a classic Kariakoo derby one that could write a new chapter in Tanzanian football history.
