Simba cherish Mgunda at club’s helm
AFTER sliding into CAF Champions League’s group stage, Simba investor Mohamed Dewji said he will find time to meet with the team’s caretaker coach Juma Mgunda following his stellar performance at the club.
Mgunda steered Simba to the top 16 stage of the Champions League after outclassing Premeiro de Agosto with a 4-1 aggregate win.
Prior to that, he recorded a 4-0 aggregate victory over Nyasa Big Bullets from the preliminary round of the contest meaning that Simba have scored eight goals and conceded just once.
This has earned him praise from many Simba fans who are backing for his long stay at the helm of the club hoping that he is the right coach capable to take them further in both domestic and international capacities.
“Mgunda has done a good job and you are aware that many coaches have come and gone but he is cooperating well with players…I respect him and God willing, I want to meet him.
“I want to listen to him but so far, we are very happy with what he is doing and we are going to work closely with him. In football, there are two or three things but he has managed to contain the club well,” Mo said.
Commenting on the team’s qualification to the group stage, he said “We are all happy as the Simba family but time is here to win the championship.”
“We should not just be satisfied with reaching the group stage but rather thinking of winning the title…we are going to compete with giants like us hence we need to fight hard.
“We need to believe in ourselves for this stage we have arrived at. It is not easy but slowly, we are nearing our targets of doing wonders in the Champions league,” he said.
However, after his commendable job in the championship league, Simba have now switched focus to their game with their traditional rivals Young Africans whom they meet on Sunday in the Premier League match.
The Msimbazi Street Reds top the league table with 13 points similar to second- placed Yanga, but superior goal average favours Simba.
Both teams enjoy undefeated run of the campaign after playing five matches, winning four encounters and recording one draw.
