Shule Bora, EdTech support Coast climate response
DAR ES SALAAM: IN a bid to intensify fight against climate change effects, Shule Bora Programme in collaboration with EdTech and Coast Regional Commissioner’s office have conducted a one-day workshop for professionals from the Regional Secretariat, Kibiti and Rufiji District Councils on proposed systems on dealing with effects of climate changes in their areas.
The workshop which was held in Dar es Salaam recently was aimed at increasing professionals understanding on the use of correct information and better methods of educating society about effects of climate changes and ways to deal with them.
Coast Regional Adult Education Officer Albert Machua, representing Coast Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Pili Mnyema at the event, thanked Shule Bora Programme and EdTech, saying the move was crucial in ensuring sustainable environmental preservation.

He added that the disasters caused by climate changes have continued to recur in different areas of Coast Region and that it was very important to take early precautions since there is no other way of avoiding them except through joint efforts from professionals and the communities.
“The knowledge which we have gained here will help deal with different natural disasters in our areas, it is now up to us to continue with educating our communities on translating this information correctly to enable them take early precautions in dealing with these effects”, he said.
Mr Flavian Lihwa who represented Shule Bora Programme Team Leader, congratulated Coast Regional authorities for putting much effort on dealing with natural disasters, which have several effects including destruction of schools’ infrastructures and interferes with schools’ programmes.
The workshop is part of sustainable efforts by the regional authorities to strengthen collaboration between education sector and community development in dealing with climate change effects by using collective information, education and technology systems.
