Shime confident with Tanzanite Queens

NIGERIA: NATIONAL Women’s U20 Team ‘Tanzanite Queens’ Head Coach, Bakari Shime has expressed confidence and readiness of his charges for their third round World Cup Qualification return leg against Nigeria at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Nigeria today.

Tanzania will have a huge test against Nigeria, after their 1-1 draw at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam last Sunday. For Tanzania to advance to the fourth and final round, they must win or draw by a two-goal or more margin; Nigeria advance if they at least secure a goalless draw while Tanzania advance to a penalty shootout with a 1-1 tie.

Coach Shime made the remarks shortly after a training session yesterday. He noted: “We have completed our preparations. The weather is cool and the ladies are ready for the game.

“As part of our preparation, we helped players regain concentration and confidence, after they recorded a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Dar es Salaam. We also worked on improving our playing style, in addition to which we will introduce tactical changes.”

In addition, he said that they will approach the match with great attention, ensuring that they are solid on defence as well as attacking, because both must be done for them to succeed.

The aggregate winner will meet Burundi who eliminated Congo DR by an aggregate 4-2 on Friday.

Tanzanite Queens player, Noela Luhala acknowledged their teams’ readiness, insisting the players are well spirited to secure a win in today’s game.

“Our coach saw all the shortcomings in our first leg match. He instructed us well on how we should approach the return leg and win. We hope we will secure a win,” she said.
