DAR ES SALAAM: THE Oryx Gas Company has announced a food vendor, Ms Zuwena Mohamed, alias Shilole, as its ambassador for advocating the use of clean cooking energy, particularly Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country.
The company stated on Thursday that for her being its ambassador is meant to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts aimed at realizing that 80 per cent of Tanzanians use clean cooking energy by 2032.
The company made the announcement at the ongoing 48th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF).
Company’s Sales and Marketing Manager Shaban Fundi noted that they have decided to choose Shilole because she has been among stakeholders advocating for the use of clean cooking energy.

“We know that Shilole has been a popular entrepreneur, she owns restaurants in the cities of Dar es Salaam and Dodoma. She has been a modern food vendor and an advocate for environment protection. So, we Oryx feel proud to announce her as our new ambassador in promoting the clean energy so that we all reach the target of President Samia,” Mr Fundi stated.
On her part, Shilole, who is also an actress, said she was ready to cooperate with other stakeholders in supporting President Samia in advocating for clean cooking energy.
She admitted that the Oryx Gas has been at frontline in promoting the use of clean cooking energy among the food vendors, both women and men, hence she saw it important to partner with it.
