GEITA Region Commissioner, Mr Martin Shigella has issued a warning to people who are involved in spreading misleading information about the ongoing Population and Housing Census in the country.
He said that the regional defense and security committee is well prepared to deal with such people with ill intention of obstructing the exercise.
Mr Shigella said the region has made adequate preparations for this year’s census so that it can be done smoothly and achieve the intended objectives.
He sounded the warning this week shortly after he was counted at his home place in Geita Town Council.
“The residents of Geita should not be involved in any way in spreading misleading information about this crucial exercise because legal measures will be taken against them,” he said.
“I call upon census clerks to ensure that no household is left unaccounted noting that people who will breach the laws including providing false information, threatening the clerks, will be held accountable according to the law,” he said.
The Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) of Geita, Prof Godius Kahyarara said they expect the census to bring about major economic reforms n Geita Region.
He said that through the census, the region will improve social services and prepare policies that will transform the provision of services and promote development in the region.
Geita region census coordinator, Mr Khalid Msabaha said the region has a total of 5,204 census officers and the distribution made based on the number of households.
