Shia Ithna-Asheri community commends Tanzania’s people-centred diplomacy

DAR ES SALAAAM: THE Tanzanian government has been commended for its timely and coordinated evacuation of Tanzanian students caught up in the Iran conflict, in a move described as a strong example of people-centred diplomacy.
The praise was made in Dar es Salaam during a meeting between the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Said Shaib Mussa, and representatives of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats of Africa, led by Aunali Khalfan, alongside families of those affected by the crisis.
The meeting brought together government officials and families whose children were safely repatriated from Iran following unrest.

On behalf of the delegation, Alhaj Khalfan thanked the government for organising the evacuation exercise, which ensured the safe return of students from conflict-affected areas.
A parent, Zia, shared the anxiety families endured during the crisis, commending the ministry and its Middle East Department under Abdallah Kilima for their continuous support that made the students’ safe return possible.
She also appealed for the continuation of such rapid interventions to assist Tanzanians who may face life-threatening emergencies in different parts of the world.
The representatives pledged continued cooperation with government institutions, describing the evacuation as a model of responsive and citizen-focused diplomacy.
