Serengeti Girls gear up for World Cup qualifier against Zambia

DAR ES SALAAM: THE National U-17 girls’ football team, Serengeti Girls has intensified preparations for their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zambia, set to take place this weekend at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam.

Currently training at the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Technical Centre in Kigamboni, the team is focused on refining tactics and ensuring optimal performance ahead of the match on Sunday, March 9.

Head Coach Bakari Shime ‘Black Wizard’, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and underscored the significance of the upcoming match.

“We are in the final stages of preparation and I’m pleased with the players’ commitment and determination. Our priority is to sharpen our strategy, improve team cohesion and ensure we are physically and mentally prepared for the challenge against Zambia,” Shime said.

While acknowledging Zambia’s strength, Shime emphasised the team’s readiness to compete at the highest level.

“We respect our opponents, but we are fully prepared to give our best and secure positive result. Our team has worked tirelessly in training, focusing on both physical conditioning and tactical refinement. We are confident in our abilities and ready to perform,” he said.

Shime also stressed the importance of the match in the team’s World Cup qualification journey, calling on fans for their support.

“This is a crucial match for our World Cup aspirations and the support of every football fan will be vital. The players are motivated and with the backing of our supporters, we believe we can achieve a great result,” he said.
