SERENGETI Boys are upbeat to sparkle as they face Ethiopia in the East and Central Africa U-17 Championship opener at Abebe Bikila Stadium today.

Packed in group A together with Somalia, South Sudan and Ethiopia, the country’s envoys are full of confidence to launch their campaign on front pedal.

The tournament is being used as qualifiers for the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Algeria next year.

In his remarks recently, the team’s Head Coach Kim Poulsen said his charges have had ample preparations and are ready for the showdown.

He then called on Tanzanians to rally behind them as they eye to represent well the nation in Ethiopia so that they can qualify for the Under-17 AFCON clashes.

The two finalists will from this championship qualify for the Under-17 AFCON finals slated next year in Algeria.

Uganda are the reigning champions of the tournament and will be targeting to defend it for a second time in a row making the contest difficult and tense.
