Serengeti Boys have conceded a 4-3 post match penalty defeat from South Sudan in a semifinal match of the CECAFA Under-17 AFCON Zonal qualifiers.
The two sides which met on Wednesday afternoon at Abebe Bikila Stadium produced a 1-1 after 90 minutes of regulation time hence spot kicks had to be played to separate them.
With the outcome, Serengeti Boys have missed out an opportunity to qualify for the 2023 Under 17 AFCON finals to be staged in Algeria.
To reach semifinals, Tanzania finished at the top of group A with six points after winning two fixtures which were lined up for them.
On second place were Somalia who accumulated three points from two games while hosting side endured a tough campaign as they sat pointless at the bottom of the group.
In group B, Uganda topped with six points after succeeding in both matches seconded by South Sudan who claimed one point so as Burundi who also pocketed a single point after two outings.
