‘Selengia tailor-made for volleyball coaching’

TANZANIA Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA), in collaboration with the National Volleyball Teams Coordination Committee, has appointed Alfred Selengia as the head coach of the national teams.

Selengia has been tasked with managing the women and men’s national teams and the youth side for a one-year contract, according to the association’s Secretary General, Laurence Safari.

Safari  said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that Selengia is a high quality volleyball coach whose appointment is due to the merit and great potential he had.

He said Selengia is a high-level coach with a Level 3 coaching accreditation, recognised by the Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) and the International Body (FIVB) in the field of coaching and coaches’ trainer.

Selengia is also a trainer of the CAVB coaches, a position that makes him the first local coach to hold such a status.

Along with coaching the national teams, he will also advise the National teams Coordination Committee on the technical issues and the best and most modern way to establish solid national teams for current and future needs.

Adding, he said  Selengia will bring a wealthy experience and expertise aided by his coaching qualifications, possession of the quality skills that  work positively for  both men and women’s teams.

Safari stressed: “On behalf of TAVA, I want to compliment the appointment of coach Selengia and I wish him a successful implementation in the role given to him for the benefit of volleyball.”

Recently, the association’s Chairman, Magoti Mtani, appointed the National Teams Coordination Committee and the management of all the activities of the national teams which, among others, will work on preparation for the teams ahead of the international assignments.

Safari, the committee chairman, formed the committee that will work closely with Head Coach Selengia, the secretary Riziki Godwin and two other  members; Shukuru Ally and Zacharia Bizimana.
