“Our ongoing work to combat gender-based violence through arts, including music and film, has indeed reached thousands,” he noted.

“This festival acts as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that art can and does impact lives.”

Throughout the past February, various outreach activities, including film screenings, music performances and stage acts, have spread awareness and education. They serve as platforms for survivors and advocates to share their stories and call for action.

“I believe that music is a universal language; it can break barriers and foster understanding,” said a local performer.

“By using our voices in this way, we can not only entertain but also inspire change.”

The festival aims to continue shining a light on these crucial conversations, using the power of song to unite communities and create a lasting impact against inequality and violence.

As the days unfold, attendees can expect engaging performances that not only celebrate culture but also advocate for the rights and dignity of every individual.

Sauti za Busara, set against the picturesque backdrop of Zanzibar, embraces the idea that through music, together we can create a harmonious world, standing firm in solidarity against gender-based violence.
