Samia to Yanga: Just go to work

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated Young Africans for reaching semi-finals of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) saying the Tanzanian giants have written history.

Her remarks following the barren draw with Rivers United of Nigeria at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday earned the Tanzanian envoys a 2-0 aggregate to advance to the semifinals stage of the tournament for the first time since the club’s formation in 1935.

“Congratulations to Yanga for reaching the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup. All the best in the preparations you have started for the next game.

“You have written history. You have honored us so much. My enthusiasm continues and now it has increased. Go and work,” said President Samia in a post shared on both Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Yanga became the second club, after Simba in 1974, to advance to the CAF inter-club semi-finals following Sunday’s achievement.

Yanga’s semifinal opponents are Marumo Gallants of South Africa who eliminated Pyramid of Egypt on a 2-1 aggregate.
