Samia to lead Tanzanians in paying last respects to fallen Ndugulile

DAR ES SALAAM: President Samia Suluhu Hassan will lead mourners in paying their last respects to the late Dr Faustine Ndugulile, the former Member of Parliament for Kigamboni in Dar es Salaam, at a farewell ceremony scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2024, at Karimjee Grounds.

Dr Ndugulile was also the director-elect of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Africa.

According to a burial schedule issued by the Office of the Parliament, Dr. Ndugulile will be laid to rest on December 3, 2024, in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam.

The body of Dr Ndugulile, who had been undergoing treatment in India, is expected to arrive in the country on Friday, November 29, 2024, aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight.

He passed away on the night of November 27, 2024, while receiving medical care.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan sent a message of condolence to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Tulia Ackson, following the passing of the Kigamboni MP and WHO Regional Director-elect.

Dr Samia expressed her sadness over the loss in a message posted on her WhatsApp channel, extending condolences to his family, Members of Parliament, Kigamboni residents, friends, and relatives.

“I have received with sadness the news of the passing of Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, Member of Parliament for Kigamboni and the Director-elect of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the African Region, which occurred this morning. My sincere condolences to his family, the Speaker of Parliament Dr. Tulia Ackson, Members of Parliament, the residents of Kigamboni, relatives, friends, and all Tanzanians. May the Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest,” the President wrote.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Tulia Ackson, confirmed the news of Dr. Ndugulile’s death in a statement shared on Parliament’s social media platforms.

Dr. Tulia stated that the Parliament will collaborate with Dr. Ndugulile’s family to coordinate funeral arrangements and provide further updates.

Dr Faustine Ndugulile was a Tanzanian CCM politician who had served as Member of Parliament for Kigamboni Constituency since 2010.

In October 2017, he was appointed Deputy Minister for Health, and in 2020 he became the first Minister for Communication & ICT, a newly established ministry under the late President John Magufuli.

In August 2024, he was nominated as the next Regional Director for the WHO African Region.

Dr Ndugulile is survived by two children: Martha Ndugulile and Melvin Ndugulile.
