Samia, TEC discuss unity
DODOMA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has met and held discussions with Catholic bishops in Tanzania through the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation between the government and the Church on issues of national importance.
The meeting was held at Chamwino State House in Dodoma, bringing together the Head of State and leaders of the Catholic Church to discuss matters affecting Tanzanian society, including politics, faith and development.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Presidential Communications, State House, Bakari Machumu, the discussion also focused on strengthening peace, unity and solidarity while working towards building a better future for the nation.

The discussions further highlighted the important role played by religious denominations and their leaders in nurturing a society founded on good morals, accountability and solidarity, as part of their contribution to the country’s welfare and sustainable development.
President Samia thanked the bishops for recognising the importance of meeting and exchanging views on issues of national interest, assuring them of her commitment to maintaining a culture of consultation and engagement with religious leaders and various groups in society whenever important national matters arise.
The meeting reflects the importance of continued dialogue between the Government and religious institutions in addressing issues affecting communities and promoting national cohesion.
