Yesterday, Charles Maguzu, a Sports Officer from the National Sports Council (NSC), handed the national flag to the team in Dar es Salaam. He announced that President Samia has provided return air tickets and allowances for their six-day stay, expressing confidence in their potential.

“In the 2022 tournament in Dar es Salaam, you secured third place behind South Africa and Morocco. We believe you can finish in the top two this time,” Maguzu said.

He also commended the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) for their efforts in promoting golf and for supporting the players who represent Tanzania on the international stage.

TLGU President Queen Siraki expressed optimism about the team’s readiness, saying: “The team’s journey is a result of collaboration between TLGU, the government, and the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU).

“We have done everything possible to ensure they succeed in Morocco. We are thankful for the government’s support and TGU’s unwavering commitment,” she stated.

Team Manager Magombe confirmed that the golfers will have three days of practice on the course before the tournament begins, ensuring they are well-acclimated and prepared.

Team captain Hawa Wanyeche voiced her gratitude and confidence in their preparations.

“We are well-prepared and confident in our abilities. We ask for Tanzanians’ prayers and support, and we promise to give our best,” she said.

In the 2022 tournament, the team, featuring former member Angel Eaton (now a professional golfer), finished third with a total score of 455, 11 strokes behind champions South Africa (444) and six behind runners-up Morocco (449).
