‘Samia raises bar for women leaders’

IRINGA: CCM presidential running mate, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has said that President Samia Suluhu Hassan has practically demonstrated that Tanzanian women are capable of leading with great success when given the opportunity.

Dr Nchimbi noted that in just four and a half years in office, President Samia has set a record of remarkable achievements and shown exemplary leadership.

Speaking on Thursday at a campaign rally in Isimani Constituency, Iringa Region, he said there had initially been an uncertainty when President Samia assumed office, but through her bold actions she had strengthened national unity and confirmed her strong leadership qualities.

“During her time in office, President Samia has fulfilled her pledge to unite the nation, delivered development across all parts of the country and defended Tanzania’s territorial integrity and sovereignty to the highest standard,” Dr Nchimbi said.

He added that the world continues to admire President Samia’s leadership, with some countries wondering where they might find such a leader, while Tanzanians proudly respond, “Samia is ours.”

Dr Nchimbi outlined the party’s development plans for Isimani over the next five years, focusing on health, education, water, agriculture, business and transport infrastructure.

Dr Nchimbi said that in Isimani, health services will be improved through the construction of seven new health centres, 15 dispensaries, and the upgrading of the district hospital. In education, 12 new primary schools and eight secondary schools will be built, alongside 395 classrooms in existing schools to address overcrowding.

On water provision, he revealed that a major water project will benefit more than eight localities, in addition to five deep wells and four other water schemes.

In the agriculture sector, the government plans to increase fertiliser subsidies, develop irrigation systems by constructing new canals, and build a warehouse for storing avocado produce.

He added that the business sector will be strengthened by creating an enabling environment for investment and entrepreneurship. In transport, more than five roads will be constructed to tarmac standard and over ten to gravel standard.

After the Isimani rally, Dr Nchimbi addressed another gathering in Kilolo, where he outlined CCM’s development plans for the constituency. These include upgrading the district hospital with new buildings and medical equipment, constructing five health centres and ten dispensaries, establishing 12 new primary schools and eight secondary schools, and adding 295 science laboratories in existing schools.

In agriculture, farmers will receive improved maize, coffee and avocado seeds, as well as subsidised inputs and strengthened irrigation systems. The livestock and fisheries sectors will be enhanced through the construction of new cattle dips, dams, modern slaughterhouses, and five fish ponds. Dr Nchimbi further pledged to establish industrial clusters to add value to agricultural produce and create employment opportunities.

Speaking at the rally, Isimani parliamentary candidate William Lukuvi highlighted the progress made from the tenure of former President Jakaya Kikwete to the current leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

He noted that Isimani has undergone a remarkable transformation since 1995, thanks to major development projects implemented over the years.

Mr Lukuvi described Dr Nchimbi as a principled, honest and patriotic leader with extensive experience in government and CCM, having served in roles ranging from district commissioner to deputy minister and minister.

He expressed strong confidence in Dr Nchimbi’s leadership and ability to drive further development in the constituencies
