Samia explains role of State Attorneys in country’s economy

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has tasked State Attorneys to play a pivotal role in boosting the country’s economy by protecting the rights of investors meticulously.

In fulfilling this, the Head of State has instructed the State Attorneys to embark on solving various legal dispute challenges facing investors amid the country’s effort to create a better environment for investment.

The Head of State gave the instruction at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Center (JKCC) in Dodoma on Thursday where she was opening the State Attorneys Association’s General Meeting saying since a good number of investors are foreigners; legal related challenges are inevitable while the state needs to maintain all of them.

“I am pleased with what the Attorney General stated here; that you are organizing yourselves to listen to investors before taking cases facing them to the court,” President Samia said.

“You may be asking yourself, ‘I am a government lawyer, how am I involved in the country’s economic development?’ you are very much involved; you are the forces that protect our economy. Legally, our economy must be protected, our investment and business.  You don’t protect them with guns but by using your pens as the law. Protect our rights and integrity so that the country keeps receiving more investors for our economy to grow,” she stated.

At the well-attended meeting , President Samia insisted that no contracts should be signed before the involvement of the Attorney General’s office.
