‘Sacked servants with forged certificates to be paid their contributions’

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has agreed that all civil servants who were sacked for having fake education certificates will be paid all their contribution.
The employees were removed from the public service during the certification review conducted by the government in collaboration with the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) in 2016 to 2017.
Following the review, at least 14,516 employees found themselves in trouble for forging certificates and were removed from public service.
This was announced on Wednesday by the Minister of State in the Office of Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Employment, Youths and the Disabled), Professor Joyce Ndalichako and added that payment for the former employees will start effectively from November 2022.
“Following the directives, the Public Services Social Security Fund (PSSSF) and National Social Security Fund (NSSF) will return the employees contributions paid to those funds without involving the employer’s contributions,” she said.
In 2016 the late President John Magufuli sacked nearly 10,000 civil servants for having fake education certificates and the government removed more than 10,000 so-called ghost workers from its public sector payroll in a crackdown on corruption.
