Rongayao Silk Road Exhibition deepens Tanzania-China trade ties

DAR ES SALAAM: THE ongoing 2025 Rongyao Silk Road  Chengdu – Tanzania Featured Home Exhibition in Dar es Salaam is deepening economic and trade cooperation for Tanzania, China, and Africa at large.

The unique exhibition, which is happening for the first time in the country, has featured 9 categories ranging from home decoration design, bedroom furniture sets, whole-house customization, upholstered furniture, soft furnishings, lighting fixtures, building materials, furniture accessories and hardware components.

Speaking to the Daily News Digital today, September 23rd, 2025,  Mike Lai, the event’s Internet Marketing Director, says, among other benefits, this exhibition is boosting the already existing solid economic and trade cooperation between Tanzania and China.

“This is so because we have many international buyers who have descended in the country to be part of our exhibition, and they will be making new connections, which is vital in the business sector.

“Local buyers are also assured to get high-quality and long-lasting home furniture at affordable prices to make a win-win supply chain possible,” he says.

He adds that Dar es Salaam’s population of over 8 million people and a growing middle-class home furnishing demand (furniture and lighting materials) is surging at 7 percent, fueled by a real estate boom.

According to him, Sichuan Egoint Technology Company Limited introduced the home furniture exhibition in 2016 but this marks the first time to penetrate in Tanzania with hopes to make it an annual event.

“Tanzania, as an important economic center in East Africa, has broad market prospects and tremendous development potential… There is extensive space for cooperation between both parties in the

home furnishing and building materials sector.

“This exhibition aims to create  efficient cooperation platform and help Chinese and African enterprises

gain in-depth understanding of each other’s market demands and development opportunities, enabling precise connection with high-quality partners and resources,” he says.

In conclusion, Mr Mike uses the opportunity to invite many people to come and be part of the exciting exhibition journey, which he says has numerous impacts.
