ALL is set as Dundaswish Rock City Basketball tournament enters the playoff stage involving four teams of Mwanza region.

The tournament’s Chairman, Frank Matalange told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ that everything is in place for the play off to tip off this  Sunday at the Augustine University Tanzania (SAUT) Badband courts.

He said that four teams have advanced to the play-off stage out of ten teams that started the tournament’s round-robin play.

He named the teams as Eagles, the defending champion Bugando Planet who finished runners up, the third-placed Spiders and Bandari who finished fourth.

Surprisingly both four teams have accumulated 16 points in the tournament’s standings.

Matalange stressed that the group leaders Eagles have been scheduled to face the fourth-placed Bandari in the first play-off game before Planet battle lock horns with Spiders in another play-off match.

“We are glad that everything went well as planned, we expect more competitive play-off matches as teams will battle it out in the best-of-three basis,” he stated.

The defending champions Planet will be out to retain the title they won in the last year’s tournament that attracted only the Mwanza-based teams, according to Matelange.

Other teams that participated are Young Profile who collected 13 points at 5th place, sixth-placed are Kings who also collected 13 points, Outsiders accumulated 12 points to settle at the 7th place while CIC finished 8th with 12 points, Dunda Sharks who carved 9 points finished ninth as SAUT finished at the bottom of the table with 8 points.

Adding, Matelange said the league that started on January 28th this year, will wind up on May 1st this year when the winners will be awarded.

The chairman has complimented all sponsors who supported the tournament to make it easy for them to run the event.

He named the sponsors as Dundaswish Investments, Beichee Outfit, Pombeland, Mambo Basketball, MNM Laundry Services, Dazzo Company, and individual sports well-wishers.
