DODOMA: THE Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities, Mr Ridhiwani Kikwete, has praised the continued strengthening of trade unions in Tanzania, highlighting their vital role in protecting workers’ rights and resolving disputes.
Speaking in Dodoma at a Railway Workers’ Union (RAWUTA) meeting, Mr Ridhiwani emphasised the government’s recognition of trade unions as key institutions in ensuring fair working conditions and national development.
“Strong trade unions lead to increased efficiency and fewer conflicts between employers and employees. Unions in Tanzania continue to grow, serving as pillars in protecting workers’ interests,” he said.
He attributed this progress to the government’s commitment to fostering dialogue between employers and workers’ representatives and ensuring an enabling environment.
Mr Ridhiwani highlighted the importance of trade unions in promoting productive workplace relations, advocating for workers’ rights, and enhancing social security.
