Relief for patients as Amana Hospital launches new CT-Scan, X-Ray machines
THE efforts to improve health sector got new spice recently with launching of new CT-Scan and Digital X-Ray machines at the Amana Regional Referral Hospital.
The two machines, worth 1.2bn/-, are expected to help patients access high quality healthcare at the key hospital.
A CT-scan costs 810m/- and the Digital X-Ray costs 400m/-. The devices will help patients get services from the hospital instead of being referred to the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH).
Medical Officer in Charge at the Amana Hospital, Dr Bryceson Kiwelu, noted that launch of the tools aims at implementing the efforts done by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in improving the health sector.
In this fiscal year, he added, they have invested more to improve the infrastructures including including installing modern medical equipment and diagnostic equipment.
He stated that the hospital has also invested in the blood purification unit for patients with kidney problems.
He said the hospital was the first among regional referral hospitals in the Dar es Salaam region to provide such service.
Dr Kiwelu also urged specialists of the particular department to use the equipment properly, so as to provide efficient treatment.
The hospital has more than 30 specialist doctors in various departments, including the mother and child care unit, orthopedic surgery unit, urology surgery unit and others.
On her part, a radiologist, Dr Japo Lukali, added that the devices would help patients suffering from various health challenges such as injuries from including accidents, stroke and early stages of cancer.
Dr Lukali has also commended President Samia and the Ministry of Health for making significant reforms in the sector.
