POLISI Tanzania revived hopes of remaining in the top flight league and shrug off relegation demon after a vital 2-1 win over Ihefu at Ushirika Stadium in Moshi on Friday.
The victory has heightened Polisi Tanzania to the 15th position with 22 points while Ruvu Shooting with 20 points are now bottom-placed.
Polisi Tanzania can overcome relegation if they win their three remaining games.
If they win all three, they will bag 31 points which can save them from exit.
It was the sole Premier League fixture as both teams played their 27th round match.
Veteran player Kevin Sabato was the match hero as he netted a brace that helped his team to win the game.
Ihefu were the first to open the goal account through Adam Adam a few minutes after the start of the second half.
Ihefu made several raids at Polisi Tanzania and it was in the 16th minute when Ihefu’s Victor Ackpan was about to score from Yacuba Sogne’s pass, but Polisi Tanzania goalkeeper Christopher John saved the danger.
Lenny Kisu committed a foul on Ihefu’s striker Rajab Iddy, but agile Polisi Tanzania keeper saved again.
Obrey Chirwa made several attempts for Ihefu but none of them paid of and the game went to a halftime with a 0-0 draw.
In the 48th minute, Adam Adam scored an opener for Ihefu after missing several chances.
Polisi Tanzania equalised in the 62nd minute through Kevin Sabato and ten minutes later in the 73rd minute he scored the winner.
