EIGHT teams have qualified to play in the quarter final stage of the Women Regional Champions’ league after winning their weekend’s matches.
Teams qualified are Bunda Queens, Singida Warriors, Geita Gold Queens, JMK Park, Ruangwa Queens, Masala Queens, Mount Hanang and Mwanza Queens.
In their today’s matches, Bunda Queens from Mara will meet Singida Warriors while Mount Hanang of Manyara will play Mwanza Queens. JMK Park will confront Geita Gold Queens while Ruangwa Queens will play against Masala Queens.
All the quarter final games will be played at the Alliance Schools ground in Mwanza.
Speaking about their preparation towards match, Mwanza Queens Head Coach, Ibrahim Mulumba, has congratulated his players for giving themselves up and playing according to his instructions.
“I would like to congratulate my players for committing themselves and following the instructions we gave them and finally reaching this stage. It is a great joy for us,” he said.
On his side Alliance FC and Alliance Girls team’s chairman Stephano Nyaitati thanked the Tanzania football federation (TFF) for bringing the competition to Alliance schools.
He urged TFF to bring the first division league competition for women in their school again due to the availability of accommodation and enough grounds.
Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) competition manager (TFF) Baraka Kizuguto congratulated the participating teams of the women regional level champions league.
“The competition has been very strong, unlike in previous years, teams have been conceding a lot of goals but now many players continue to improve,” Kizuguto said.
The quarter final matches will be played today and on Tuesday they will play semifinals and they expect the final will be played on Wednesday.
The chairperson of Mwanza Region Women Football Association (TWFA) Sophia Makilagi said the competition is going on well and the players are showing a high level of discipline.
She urges the Mwanza women’s teams to show up in large numbers in selecting players who will help their teams for the next league season.
She also called upon the Mwanza football fraternity to turn up in the tournament.
