RC urges Mtwara traders to support TRA’s tax education campaign

MTWARA: THE Mtwara District Commissioner, Abdallah Mwaipaya, has called on traders to fully cooperate with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) in its ongoing tax education campaign, including ensuring timely payment of taxes.
The appeal was made today, March 9, 2026, during a meeting with TRA officials who visited his office as part of the Door-to-Door Tax Education Campaign.
“My message is that all the development we see, such as roads, water supply, education, health services, and other ongoing projects, is funded through tax contributions. I urge the people of Mtwara to cooperate with TRA officials who are visiting to provide tax education,” said Mwaipaya.

He added that TRA officials do not visit shops to close businesses but rather to educate traders on various tax matters, address taxpayers’ concerns, and collect feedback. He emphasized the importance of traders’ cooperation to ensure the campaign achieves its objectives.
