RC urges diligence among women students

WOMEN students must know their value and work hard towards making their dreams true, Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Rosemary Senyamule has stated.

Officiating at the University of Dodoma (UDOM) ladies gala, Ms Senyamule said they must use social media to gain knowledge and skills rather than bullying.

The gala organised by the University of Dodoma Students Organisation, (UDOSO) among others intended to equip students with knowledge on gender issues and the need to know their values and dignity, while at the college to ensure they reach their dreams.

The RC observed that some students, especially ladies, find themselves out of study range as they spend most of their time on issues and matters against their primary objectives.

“Work and study hard, this is your primary obligation, make sure you fulfill your assignment and at the end of the day, graduate with flying colours,” she insisted.

She reminded students on the proper use of smartphones, counseling them to use the gadgets as a source of knowledge and skills, not otherwise.

Ms Senyamule reminded the students that they are the future leaders, thus they must observe self-confidence, patience, ethics and wellbeing as it has a role in their future undertakings.

“You must be knowledgeable, confident, committed and patriotic in the community you engage with,” she insisted.

Speaking during the event, UDOM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Lughano Kusiluka said the university provides a unique environment for teaching, learning, research, and public services to ensure a memorable and lifetime experience.

Prof Kusilika believes in leadership qualities in women, thus assuring them of the needed support since the quality of student experience is as well a function of other factors in addition to academic pursuits.

“I am pleased with a number of initiatives to empower women, you must aim high and reach your expected destination, but it will only happen with proper planning and time management,” he insisted, adding; “Bright future starts with early preparation, time is now, plan and strategise accordingly, study hard and manage well your time,” insisted the VC.

He advised them to pick friends with a critical eye as UDOM encourages students to engage in various activities of the students union by capitalising on the available sports and recreational facilities in the colleges.

He said students should cherish the university motto “We shall solve our problems through dialogue”, and UDOM expects the motto to continue inspiring the university community in the future.

For her part, UDOSO Vice-President, Ms Mwanida Masoud said the ladies students’ gala has been a success, saying it has been a platform for sharing knowledge, especially for first year students on how to remain focused in studies.
