RC Hamduni leads cleanup at Mwanza main market
MWANZA: MWANZA Regional Commissioner CP Salum Hamduni, participated in an environmental cleanup exercise today, September 15, 2026, in the vicinity of the Mwanza City Main Market, personally clearing debris from drainage channels.
Speaking to citizens after an inspection, Hamduni noted that the environment was unclean and urged everyone to become an ambassador for cleanliness to others, thereby keeping our surroundings safe and ensuring our own well-being.
“Our city is dirty, and we need to engage in a collaborative cleanup effort as this is a responsibility shared by us all; I instruct every citizen to clean their immediate living environment, for cleanliness must begin within our own households.”

Furthermore, he called upon government officials to abandon habitual bad practices such as giving citizens the runaround when providing services or soliciting bribes in exchange for assistance.
“No trader should attempt to return to the streets; NEMC must collaborate with Mwanza City authorities to enforce this, and anyone violating this directive must face action in accordance with council bylaws.” he said
