RC calls for investment in five-star hotels in Dodoma

DODOMA: THE Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule has invited investors to build up modern hotels in the city saying the lack of five-star hotels has become a major obstacle to hosting large international conferences in the region.
Addressing hotel owners in the Dodoma Region recently, the RC said despite being the seat of the government, the region lacks enough modern hotels to attract international conferences and international visitors. She said that under the current situation, the private sector has a responsibility to ensure investments are made to meet these needs.
“At present, we do not have five-star hotels that could accommodate international visitors who come to the country for various activities,” she said.

She explained that international standards require the presence of at least five five-star hotels for a location to be capable of hosting such events, and she therefore called on investors to seize the opportunity.
“I call upon investors to invest in five-star hotels or to upgrade existing ones so that they can attain that status. The government has made massive investments, including the construction of the Msalato International Airport,” she said.
She added that major international conferences are usually held in national capitals, but currently Dodoma is unable to host them due to the lack of quality hotels and large conference facilities, making investment in this vital sector unavoidable.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Dodoma Region Hotel Owners Association, Mr Gabriel Mauna, commended water and electricity authorities for improving their services, which has helped ease access to these essential utilities.
“We thank the regional government because the last time we met, we presented our challenges, and among them were electricity and water. We appreciate that these challenges have been addressed, and in this regard, I commend DUWASA and TANESCO for improving these vital services,” said Mauna
