Costa Rica have so far recorded the lowest ball possession of 18 percent than any other team at the progressing World Cup finals in Qatar.
This saw them suffering the heaviest defeat of 7-0 from Spain in their group E inaugural match on Wednesday.
Out of eight shots on target by Spain, seven of them transformed into goals and had 1,045 complete passes against 230 full passes by Costa Rica.
Aside from the big upset, Costa Rica had no shot on and off the target meaning that they were completely overwhelmed by the 2010 world cup champions.
Another team which has played without registering a shot on target is Qatar in their 2-0 loss from Ecuador in the opening match of the contest.
Germany have joined Argentina in the category of shocking defeats as the duo went down 2-1 from Saudi Arabia and Japan respectively.
Both teams dominated play in terms of possession as well as shots on and off the target but at the sound of the final whistle, they marched off the pitch with heads down.
Until this juncture, 12 games have been played with 33 goals netted and only three matches have elapsed without witnessing goals being scored.
