Provide regular reports on contractor performance- CRB

CHAIRPERSON of the Contractors Registration Board (CRB), Engineer Joseph Nyamhanga, has called on the government and the private sector to provide regular reports on contractor performance.

This will help assess whether projects are being completed on time and meeting the required quality standards.

He made these remarks during an inspection tour of a sewage infrastructure construction project in Musoma, implemented in partnership with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and China Railway Corporation (CRCC).

Eng Nyamhanga emphasised that the board’s responsibility is to monitor the work and conduct of all contractors nationwide, who are engaged in various construction projects assigned by both government and private sector employers.

“We urge employers from both the government and the private sector to report contractors who fail to complete projects as per their contracts, so we can take appropriate action in accordance with the Contractors Registration Act,” Eng Nyamhanga stated.

He also highlighted the need for local contractors to improve their performance to earn the trust of both the government and the private sector.

In another development, the CRB Board of Directors and Management visited the construction site of the Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology in Butiama, Mara Region.

The project is being executed by foreign contractors China Jiangxi International Economic & Technical Cooperation Co Ltd, Shandong Hi-Speed Dejian Group Co Ltd, and local contractor Comfix & Engineering.

Eng Nyamhanga called on the project manager to ensure that all contractors adhere to the contractual terms and conditions.

He also urged all contractors across the country to complete their assigned projects on time, with the required quality, and within the agreed-upon costs, as stipulated in their contracts.
