TANZANIAN pugilist Twaha Kiduku battles Asemahle Wellen of South Africa in a 10-round Intercontinental championship main card event in Mwanza today.
The two boxers meet for the first time in the ring hence it clearly defines how epic the bout is going to be as each looks certain to grab the belt.
Speaking yesterday after weighing and face-off exercises, Kiduku reiterated that he is well prepared for the intended job to make Tanzanians proud.
“I talk less and let my hands speak for me in the ring…of course, I am ready to engage him and with full backing from my fans, I believe that everything will go my way,” he said.
His colleague Wellen also disclosed that he is here to win the championship and take it to South Africa where he said it belongs.
However, according to statistics compiled by official Television broadcaster Azam, Kiduku has had 31 fights, winning 22, losing 8, recording one draw and registering 8 knock outs (KOs).
He is ranked on first place in Tanzania out of 28 boxers and his debut bout was recorded in May 2013.
For Wellen, he has so far engaged in 6 fights, winning 6, he is yet to suffer defeat, has never recorded a draw and he cherishes 3 knock outs (KOs).
He is ranked on second place in South Africa and his debut fight was witnessed in July 2021.
Another interesting fight will see Karim Mandonga taking on Ugandan Moses Golola in a seemingly tough game as the two boxers have been exchanging hyping words prior to their meeting.
Narrowly, they almost exchanged blows during the face-off only to be separated by people who were on the stage taking care of the exercise.
Meanwhile, Mwanza Regional Commissioner Amosi Makala has urged the city’s residents to seize economic opportunities that come with the boxing event.
“A lot of people will descend in the city to witness this big event as such, explore all economic chances and make sure that you utilise them fully,” he said.
