President Samia’s plea to religious leaders
President Samia Suluhu Hassan has advised religious leaders in the country to encourage their congregations to abide by Tanzanian tradition, customs and values.
She made the call during the celebration of the 50 years of Jubilee of work and service of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church held at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Center in Dodoma on Saturday and urged them to continue upbringing children and youth in an ethical manner.
“The government recognizes the contribution of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in educating the society in various areas including health through your various publications and media,” the President stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of State asked clerics to pray for the peace, unity and solidarity of the country saying those are the main foundation for the government to implement its various strategies of bringing development to its people.
She further asked the clerics to support the government’s efforts in environmental conservation by encouraging their followers to plant trees, conserve forests as well as water sources.
