President Samia thrilled as Fountain Gate girls crowned in SA
President Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated Fountain Gate Secondary School for clinching the CAF African Schools Football Championship which climaxed in South Africa on Saturday.
The brave girls secured a 3-0 triumph over Moroccan side Ecole Omar IBN Khatab in a final match thereby bringing home the decorated silverware which land in the country for the first time.
This feat compelles President Samia to acknowledge the team via her Instagram page where she writes: “I congratulate Fountain Gate Secondary School for winning the CAF African Schools Continental Champions to the girl’s category.
“Your victory goes hand in hand with government’s policy to improve education syllabus of enhancing both education and talents in order to get graduates who can use the two for the sake of development.”
Aside from Tanzania, other competing teams were drawn from Morocco, Gambia, Benin, Congo-Brazaville, Sychelles and hosting nation South Africa.
It mainly involves young players aged between 12-15 to showcase their talents on the battlefield and create memories that will last forever.
As such, Fountain Gate have walked away with the prize money of 300,000 USD for being champions.
