President Samia names new ATCL czar

Engineer Peter Ulanga, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL).

DAR ES SALAAM: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has announced key appointments in public institutions, naming Engineer Peter Ulanga as the new Chief Executive Officer of Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL).

Ulanga takes over from Ladislaus Matindi, who has retired.

Before his new role, Engineer Ulanga served as the Director General of Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL).

In 2009, he was appointed CEO of the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF), where he served for 10 years.

Chief Secretary Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka’s statement added that President Samia has also appointed Prof Harun Mapesa as Principal of Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial University.

Prof Mapesa succeeds Prof Shadrack Mwakila, whose term has expired.

Prior to this role, Prof Mapesa was a Senior Lecturer at Mzumbe University, known for his contributions to academic development.

“These appointments are effective from November 9, 2024,” the statement concluded.
