President Samia mourns Ndugulile

DODOMA: President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Wednesday sent messages of condolence to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Tulia Ackson following the death of Kigamboni MP (CCM) and WHO Regional Director- elect (Africa) Dr. Faustine Ndugulile.

Ndugulile passed away in India aged 55.

Dr. Samia posted on her WhatApp Channel expressing sadness over the passing on of Dr Ndugulile. She extended the condolences to his family, Members of the Parliament, Kigamboni residents as well as friends and relatives.

“I have received with sadness the news of the passing of Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, Member of Parliament for Kigamboni and the Director-elect of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the African Region, which occurred this morning…My sincere condolences to his family, the Speaker of the Parliament, Dr. Tulia Ackson, Members of the Parliament, the residents of Kigamboni, relatives, friends, and all Tanzanians. May the Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest,” the President wrote.

The news of his death was confirmed by Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Tulia Ackson, in a statement shared on the Parliament’s social media platforms.

According to Dr Tulia, the Parliament will collaborate with the family of the deceased to coordinate the funeral arrangements and provide further updates in due course.

Faustine Ndugulile was a Tanzanian CCM politician and Member of Parliament for Kigamboni constituency since 2010.

In October 2017, he was appointed as the Deputy Minister for Health and in 2020 he was appointed as the first Minister for Communication & ICT, a newly created ministry by the former President John Magufuli, currently under President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

In August 2024 he was nominated as the next Regional Director for the World Health Organization (WHO) African Region.

The deceased is survived by two children who are Martha Ndugulile, Melvin Ndugulile.
